The 43rd winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Tuesday 22nd April 1851 over the Rowley Mile, was Hernandez (9/2), a bay colt by Pantaloon out of Black Bess, owned by Viscount Enfield. The winner won by a length, with 2 1/2 lengths back to the third. A field of 10 runners contested the race which was worth £1,450 (Equivalent to £179,800 in 2017)
